Global Media Congress a qualitative leap in media sector: Chinese media specialists

Chinese media experts stressed the significant success of the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), considering it a qualitative leap in the regional and global media sector.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Guan Kejiang, Director of the MENA Regional Bureau of People’s Daily, said that the GMC provided valuable opportunities and a qualitative shift for media professionals and stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of workshops and dialogues in discussing the future of media and enhancing its role.

Kejiang emphasised the vital role of media in facing challenges such as climate change and technological advancements. He stated that the media stands at the forefront, uniquely positioned to crystallise consensus and action for the public good.

Chen Hua, a Chinese media analyst, praised the diversity of topics presented at the Congress. She noted that the Congress is particularly significant in shaping the future of media amid the world’s ongoing changes, noting that these changes
contribute to creating qualitative opportunities, extensively discussed by the Congress from various perspectives.

Liu Yong, a correspondent at the Chinese “The Paper” newspaper, affirmed that the Congress serves as a distinguished platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among journalists. He emphasised its contribution to shaping the global future of media and noted that holding the event in Abu Dhabi reflects the growing role of the UAE in enhancing global media.

Zhang Hua, an expert in digital media, noted the significance of the topics discussed at the Congress, such as sustainability, innovation and latest technologies in media, sports media, youth, as well as education and the future of media. She pointed out that these topics provided new perspectives and opened new horizons for innovation in the media sector.

China was among the most actively participating countries in the Congress, with contributions from several prestigious Chinese media institutions. Chinese students and media professional
s participated in various sessions and events organised by the Congress, covering different aspects of the media sector.
