The General Supervisor of Official Media, Ahmad Assaf, today briefed the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Anthony Bellanger, on the ongoing Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinian journalists.
During the meeting held in his office in Ramallah, Assaf provided a detailed explanation of the crimes of the Israeli occupation that target Palestinian journalists in general, and journalists working in the official media in particular, who are directly targeted the most recent of which was member of the official media Mohammad Abu Hatab, Palestine TV correspondent, who was killed with his family in an Israeli bombing that directly targeted his home, in addition to the ongoing arrests of journalists, restrictions on their movement, and direct attacks on them.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Official Media General Supervisor welcomed his guest, praising his courage in organizing this visit at a time when Palestine is being exposed to the most heinous crimes and massacres, indicating that his presence in Palestine constitutes a message of support to all Palestinian journalists to continue their work and their duty to expose and highlight the crimes of the occupation for all the world.
Assaf handed the Secretary-General lists documenting the crimes of the Israeli occupation against journalists and employees of the official media in Gaza and the West Bank, and the fight against Palestinian content on international digital platforms.
According to the latest report by the IFJ, at least 45 Palestinian journalists and media workers have been killed, several have been injured and others are missing during the war in Gaza. It called for an immediate investigation into their deaths.
Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journ

It said that its investigations showed at least 53 journalists and media workers were among more than 14,000 deaths in the Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank since the war on Gaza started on October 7. ‘This deadly toll is coupled with harassment, detentions, and other reporting obstructions in Gaza, the West Bank, Israel, and beyond,’ it said.
CPJ said it is investigating all reports of journalists and media workers killed, injured, detained, or missing in the war.
