General Abbas Ibrahim met on Thursday with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at his office.

Their discussions focused on the current developments in Lebanon and the region.

General Ibrahim expressed his concerns about the potential escalation of military actions, warning that prolonged reciprocal shelling could lead to an extended cycle of violence. However, he ruled out the likelihood of a full-scale war in the region despite the existing challenges and risks.

The meeting also addressed the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, with General Ibrahim emphasizing the importance of their return to Syria. He expressed his hope that regional movements would help create favorable conditions for their return.

For her part, Hennis-Plasschaert voiced her concerns over the increasing tensions in the region, calling for the need to contain the situation through dialogue and by listening to all parties.

ly before the conflict in Gaza ends.”
