Riyadh: The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones has been honored with the Excellence in Sustainability Award for its significant role in attracting the Haier Egypt Electronics project, marking it as one of the most noteworthy investment projects in Egypt. The award was presented to Mr. Hossam Heiba, the CEO of the Authority, during the 28th International Investment Conference, which took place in Riyadh from November 25 to 27.
According to State Information Service Egypt, this accolade highlights the Authority’s dedication to fostering an investment-friendly environment that aligns with sustainable development initiatives. By implementing advanced environmental, economic, and industrial strategies, the Authority aims to realize Egypt’s Vision 2030, which seeks to merge substantial economic growth with the conservation and efficient use of resources.
The Authority achieved this recognition after competing against 84 remarkable investment projects from 40 countries. The Haier Industrial Complex st
ands out as one of the initial projects to be granted the golden license, which streamlines all necessary approvals for establishing and operating facilities under a “single approval.” This complex is Egypt’s first environmentally friendly industrial site, spanning 200,000 square meters with an initial investment of 135 million dollars, focusing on manufacturing household appliances like air conditioners, washing machines, and screens for both local consumption and export. In 2024, the complex commenced production for its first phase, with an additional 40 million dollars allocated for a second phase covering 50,000 square meters to produce refrigerators and freezers.
By leveraging the golden license and implementing supportive sustainability measures, the Authority has effectively attracted numerous projects that advance global sustainability objectives. These initiatives span across renewable energy, transportation, logistics, and industrial production sectors, all utilizing cutting-edge, eco-friendly tech
nologies.
