GEM receives 52 artifacts, including 16 treasures of King Tutankhamun

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) received on Monday 15/11/2021 52 artifacts from Tahrir’s Egyptian Museum, including 16 artifacts from the treasures of King Tutankhamun, said the supervisor of the GEM project Atef Moftah.

 

 

The General Director of the Archaeological Affairs Area at the GEM Tayeb Abbas noted the received artifacts are topped by an Osiride statue of King Senwosret I, a limestone sarcophagus discovered in Minya’s Tuna el Gebel, an alabaster sarcophagus of Queen Hetepheres, and a pink granite statue of the god Serapis.

Abbas added that the artifacts were transferred amid tight security measures by the Tourism and Antiquities Police.
