Cairo: The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) recently welcomed Mr. Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation, and Mrs. Yuriko Koike, the Mayor of Tokyo, Japan, along with their respective delegations during their visit to Egypt. The visitors were greeted by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority. These visits come as part of the museum’s ongoing trial operations, which began on October 16.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the delegations toured key areas of the museum, including the Hanging Obelisk, the main entrance, the hall featuring the statue of Ramses II, and the Great Staircase, culminating in the main exhibition halls.
Minister Traoré expressed his amazement and delight at the artifacts showcasing Egypt’s ancient civilization, while Mayor Koike congratulated Dr. Ghoneim on the long-awaited trial opening. She expressed her admiration for the museum’s distinctive exhibition design and seamless visitor experience, parti
cularly the flow between the main galleries. She also looked forward to the upcoming opening of the Tutankhamun exhibition.
Notably, the trial operation of the museum allows visitors to explore the Hanging Obelisk area, the Great Hall, the glass hall, the commercial area, and the main exhibition halls.
