The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) hosted on Monday 24/6/2024 the Egyptian-British Business Forum for Investment in Infrastructure that was attended by 30 British firms as well as major Egyptian companies operating in the sector.
The forum included meetings between Egyptian and British companies, and between investors from each country and officials from the other country to discuss potential partnerships. It is noted that the flow of UK investments to Egypt in FY2022/2023 recorded $2 billion.
The main goal of the convention is attracting investments in environment-friendly infrastructure projects in the fields of water management and recycling; new and renewable energy; engineering industries; constructions; and ICT.
On that front, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated in 2023 funding worth pound 1.26 billion to infrastructure projects Egypt.
Egypt is also eager for attracting investments in green hydrogen, green ammonia, and methanol enterprises in
the SCzone.
