French-Egyptian Forum for Scientific and Academic Cooperation to Be Held in Cairo


Cairo: Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, announced that the French-Egyptian Forum for Scientific and Academic Cooperation is scheduled for April 7 and 8. This event will coincide with the French President’s visit to Cairo and aims to strengthen the scientific relationship between Egypt and France.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the forum is a testament to the expanding strategic cooperation in higher education and scientific research between the two nations, supporting sustainable development. Dr. Refaat, speaking at the Egyptian-French conference, highlighted that internationalizing higher education aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education’s strategy for quality education and research in Egypt. The national plan emphasizes leveraging knowledge and innovation as drivers of development, with a focus on building partnerships and exchanging expertise with leading international institutions.

In his address, Dr. Refaat revealed plans for several agreements a
nd memoranda of understanding to be signed with France’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Authority. These agreements mark a significant step in enhancing cooperation between the higher education institutions of both countries, aiming to foster academic collaboration and the development of joint educational programs that address global changes.

The Supreme Council of Universities remains committed to advancing higher education in Egypt and promoting scientific research. It continues to prepare universities to deliver advanced education and community services and has launched a guiding reference framework for higher education.

Dr. Refaat also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director of Technical Schools of Engineering to bolster cooperation. Additionally, a partnership agreement will be made between the French Embassy and the Science and Technology Support Fund to finance post-doctoral fellowship programs, along with bilateral memoranda between Egyptian and French univ
ersities.

He further underscored the significance of the French University in Egypt, highlighting it as a model for cross-border education.
