Minister of Environment Yassmine Fouad discussed in a phone call Thursday 27/1/2022 with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry means of boosting bilateral relations, along with Egypt’s preparations to host the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), expected to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh city in 2022.
In a press release, the minister added that the call also stressed the importance of implementing the outcome of the Glasgow Summit.
The call also took up Egypt-US joint cooperation program meant to confront climate change consequences within the framework of the 2050 climate change national strategy.
For his part, the US climate official stressed US keenness on supporting Egypt to host the COP 27.
They also agreed on the importance of fostering cooperation between the Egyptian and US environment and foreign ministries.
