Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad asserted Monday Egypt started green economy thought with clear legislation and incentives for the private sector under the new investment law in the fields of waste management, green hydrogen and plastic alternatives and tax exemptions .
Fouad added the political leadership is prioritizing the green economy transition .
Citizens are always provided with information to become key partners in environment conservation, she added in an address to the 6th Strategies for Transition to Green Economy Forum, delivered on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli .
The forum offers an important opportunity for probing promising green investment sectors and the provision of practical solutions and initiatives as a main step to achieve harmony among various parties concerned, she said .
The minister said efforts were focused on setting the stage for promoting a genuine partnership between the government and all society segments including youth, women and the private sector .
She un
derscored the importance of empowering the private sector and encourage it to participate in green economy transition efforts .
All sectors of agriculture and industry as well as research centers and youth should take part in addressing the green economy transition and environment, added Fouad .
The forum is held within the framework of the national efforts being exerted by the Egyptian government, and development partners – under directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi – to give priority to projects and programs for shifting to green economy, supporting climate action, and promoting development partnerships among the private sector as well as international and regional development institutions .
The event is aiming to achieve green and sustainable growth and backing the accomplishments of Egypt’s 2050 strategy .
The forum is held under the theme ‘Towards a sustainable future… Together, we take the lead in advancing the green economy .’
