Foreign Ministry welcomes France’s imposition of sanctions on violent colonists, urges all states to follow suit

RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates urged in a statement tonight all states that have not yet joined countries in imposing sanctions on Israeli colonists involved in acts of terror against Palestinians in the West Bank to follow suit.

The ministry urged all states to not merely settle for imposing sanctions on extremist colonists, but to also add colonial terrorist organizations and the entire colonial system to the terrorist lists.

The statement emphasized the need to exert more pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to compel it to stop its colonization and to disband and disarm armed colonial militias.

The Ministry welcomed the decision made by France to impose sanctions on 28 extremist Israeli colonists who were involved in attacks and acts of violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, praising it as a courageous decision.

The ministry considered France’s imposition of sanctions on violent colonists as a significant step in the right direction toward applying furt
her sanctions on the entire colonial settlement system in all of the Palestinian Territory.
