Foreign ministry condemns killing of Palestinian toddler in Nabi Saleh at hands of Israeli soldiers

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in a statement issued today the killing of a Palestinian toddler at the hands of Israeli soldiers in the village of Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah, slamming it as a heinous crime and a crime against humanity. The ministry called for a prompt international investigation into the killing of the toddler, who was identified as three-year-old Mohammad Haytham Tamimi, and into other crimes against Palestinian children. The foreign ministry also called on the International Criminal Court and the International Commission of Inquiry to shoulder their responsibilities in this regard, especially since any internal Israeli investigations are informal and lack merit. The ministry slammed what it described as Israel’s informal investigation as mere attempts to mislead the world and international courts, which often end with acquitting the assassin and obscuring the truth. Tamimi was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers and critically wounded on Thursday when he was in his family car outside their home. He was taken to an Israeli hospital where he was pronounced dead today. The killing of Tamimi brings the total number of Palestinian children who were killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of this year to 28.
