RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the brutal shelling committed today by the Israeli occupation against an UNRWA-run center sheltering tens of thousands of displaced persons in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza, which resulted in the killing and wounding of several people and caused fire to break out in the center.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry slammed this Israeli attack as part of Israel’s systematic targeting of UNRWA institutions, facilities, staff, schools, shelter centers and equipment, aimed at eliminating its presence and work in the Gaza Strip.

It added that Israel aims to deprive Palestinian refugees of any relief, educational and health services carried out and supervised by the UN agency by striking and liquidating the viability in the Gaza Strip and pushing for further forced displacement and immigration abroad.

The Foreign Ministry decried the international failure to stop the genocidal war, implement the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2720 and se
cure the basic humanitarian needs of the citizens of the Gaza Strip, which it stressed encourages the occupation to commit further crimes.
