Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon, who is currently visiting Cairo to attend the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza. The two top diplomats exchanged views regarding regional and international developments of mutual concern, with a focus on the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty appreciated Slovenia’s supportive stance on the lawful rights of the Palestinian people. He noted Ljubljana’s balanced position on the aggravating developments in the region and praised Slovenia’s recognition of the State of Palestine in May 2024. Slovenia has consistently voted for international resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of aid to the war-torn enclave.
Abdelatty briefed Fajon on Egypt’s efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the importance of international moves to support the implementation of the two-state solution and the recog
nition of an independent Palestinian state.
