Riyadh: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, participated on Sunday, November 10, in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit scheduled to be held on November 11 in Riyadh. During the meeting, he delivered a speech that included several key points, the most important being the condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza for over a year amid unacceptable international silence, as well as the continued attacks in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, emphasizing the need for an immediate cessation of this aggression. He also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the unconditional and complete delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip, stressing that no state should be above the law and beyond accountability.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Foreign Minister expressed his condemnation of the Israeli actions against UNRWA and the attacks on UNIFIL forces, which represent a blatant violation
of international law and international humanitarian law, amid the UN Security Council’s failure. He also condemned the aggression against Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of an immediate ceasefire, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the empowerment of Lebanese state institutions, especially the Lebanese army, and the election of a consensual president for Lebanon without external impositions.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized that arrogance and illusions of power will not bring peace and security to any country or to the region as a whole. He stated that the only way to achieve this goal is for the Palestinian people to attain their full and legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent state on all of their occupied territory, based on the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
