Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty spoke with Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabés Abroad of Burkina Faso.

Abdelatty began by congratulating Mr. Traore on Burkina Faso’s Independence Day, which was on August 5, said Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department, in a statement.

The discussion focused on enhancing existing cooperation and exploring new opportunities aligned with both countries’ current priorities, Abu Zeid added.

Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting national capacity building and institutional development in African nations through the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and scholarships from Egyptian universities.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for Burkina Faso’s efforts against terrorism and cross-border crime.

He highlighted the role of the Al-Azhar mission in Burkina Faso in countering extremist ideologies and promoting moderate, accurate representations of Islam.

The Egyptian Minister also expressed Egypt’s dedication to strengthening peace and security in Africa, addressing shared regional and international issues, and responding to the security challenges facing West African countries, particularly in the Sahel and Sahara regions.
