Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has stressed that Egypt will continue to provide support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to help it offer basic services to Palestinians.
During a meeting with Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini, Shoukry reviewed efforts made by Egypt to mobilize global political and financial support for UNRWA, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.
Lazzarini voiced the agency’s keenness on coordinating with Egypt to mobilize international support in light of political and political challenges.
According to the spokesman, the two sides exchanged viewpoints on how to provide aid for UNRWA ahead of the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers, which will be held Tuesday in Cairo, and the UN General Assembly meetings.
He stressed that Egypt would spare no effort to support UNRWA at the regional and international levels in light of the centrality of the Palestinian cause.
