FM Stresses Support For Palestinian Rights


Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian people’s rights, rejecting their forced displacement. He underlined the importance of pursuing the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital. He made the remarks while receiving a Palestinian delegation under Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Hussein Sheikh.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts for full implementation of the ceasefire deal in Gaza within the three-stage timeframe, stressing that Egypt would continue contacts to ensure commitment to this deal. The foreign minister accentuated Egypt’s support for the Palestinian government and its reform plans, highlighting the importance of empowering the Palestinian Authority at the political and economic levels.



The minister was keen to stand on the delegation’s briefing on the latest developments in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. For his part, PLO official Sheikh conveyed greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He thanked Egypt for its stands supporting the Palestinians and their just cause.
