Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s total rejection of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as Israel’s use of military force without regard for the principles of international humanitarian law. Abdelatty made the comments during his meeting on Sunday with a delegation of the Churches for Peace in the Middle East Organization (CMEP) headed by Dr. Mae Elise Cannon, the organization’s executive director.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the top Egyptian diplomat stated that Israel’s practices fuel feelings of hatred and hostility in the Middle East and contradict the foundations of peaceful coexistence advocated by all divine religions. He warned that failing to stop Israeli violations and provocations could lead to a widespread wave of anger with serious repercussions on international peace and security.
On their part, the CMEP delegation members expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s constructive role in securing a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and its efforts in supporting regional peace, security, and stability. They affirmed their rejection of Israel’s violations against the Palestinian people and any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land. CMEP representatives also commended the Egypt-crafted Arab plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, as well as Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate the situation and stop the war.
