Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined Egypt’s full support of Libya as an independent and sovereign state.
Shoukry made the remarks on Saturday 02/10/2021 during a meeting with Libya’s Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC) Abdullah Al-Lafi.
The top diplomat referred to the political leadership’s directives to mobilize all Egyptian potentials to support Libya in overcoming the challenges of the current stage, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
The minister underlined the importance of Egypt’s support to the steps taken by Libya in accordance with the political roadmap.
He lauded the efforts exerted by the Libyan parliament which resulted in the issuance of the presidential elections law.
During the meeting, Shoukry highlighted the importance of withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya so that the country would restore its full sovereignty.
For his part, Al-Lafi voiced deep appreciation of the role played by Egypt to support Libya and help it maintain its stability, citing the progress realized in the relations between the two countries.
He said Libya hopes that Egypt will continue to play its role in reconstructing and achieving development in Libya in light of the Egyptian expertise in this regard.
