FM reviews Egypt’s stance on regional, int’l issues

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s stance on a number of key regional and international issues, notably the Middle East peace process, the Syrian and Yemeni crises, as well as the repercussions of the Ukrainian crisis on global food security.

Shoukry’s remarks came during his meeting on Friday with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, Jordan and Yemen, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abo Zeid said the participating ministers issued a joint statement affirming strategic and historical relations and growing partnership among their countries.

The ministers called for building on the outcome of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit that was held in July and promoting peace, security, stability and economic prosperity in the Middle East, in addition to addressing regional and international challenges, including food, climate, health and humanitarian crises, the spokesman added.
