Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Atty praised the distinguished cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the fields of protecting heritage, combating illicit trafficking in it and facilitating the return and recovery of cultural property, asserting Egypt’s hope to draw on the organization’s technical expertise.
This came during a meeting he held on Tuesday 24/9/2024 with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The top Egyptian diplomat stressed the importance of supporting the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo in light of the growing challenges facing the Arab region, which directly affect the areas of organization’s work in the region.
Also, the minister lauded the cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO in connection with the AWARe (Action for Water Adaptation and Resilience) initiativ
e issued by the presidency of the Sharm El-Sheikh global climate conference, COP27.
