Foreign Minister and President-designate of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Shoukry asserted on Thursday 2/6/2022 the importance of uniting efforts of various stakeholders to implement the COP26 recommendations, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
This came in his speech during annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank, currently being held in Sharm El Sheikh city, and attended by a large number of ministers and senior officials and delegations from member states, as well as representatives of international, regional and financial institutions.
The minister also highlighted Egypt’s keenness on keeping channels of contact open with all entities concerned with climate action in all parts of the world, including governments, the private sector, financial institutions, NGOs and academics.
The COP27 conference, to be hosted by Egypt in Sharm El Sheikh in November, aims at building on the outcome of the COP26 in Glasgow to reach progress in all issues concerning climate, the minister further said.
