FM meets United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Migration Badr Abd El-Atty received Muhannad Hadi, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, on Monday. They addressed the ongoing Israeli war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said that Abd El-Atty stressed Egypt’s support for the efforts of the Humanitarian Coordinator, especially at this time when the Gaza Strip is witnessing a severe humanitarian disaster.

The Foreign Minister also voiced Egypt’s condemnation of the Israeli measures in the northern Gaza Strip, and all the obstacles it imposes on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, targeting humanitarian workers, and attempts to undermine the work and liquidate the activity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs was keen to review the most prominent efforts undertaken by Egypt to intensify the pace of entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, stressing the
need to enable all United Nations agencies to assume their responsibilities in this regard.

Minister Abd El-Atty was keen to learn from the UN official about his vision of the situation in Gaza, the nature of the challenges facing the UN institutions, and his assessment of the humanitarian situation in the Strip, especially in the north, in light of the Israeli military measures.

Abd El-Atty expressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip.
