FM meets Latin American ambassadors in Cairo

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday 7/2/2023 met with the ambassadors of Latin American countries in Cairo in a move meant to strengthen the historical cooperation and friendship between Egypt and those states, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

During the meeting, the foreign minister said the current international challenges require enhancing solidarity and cooperation among countries that share historical bonds, similarity in civilizations and the long struggle for independence, as well as joint action to achieve peace and prevent world’s conflicts, the spokesman added.

Shoukry added Egypt highly values its friendship and cooperation with Latin American countries, in addition to the existing and distinguished coordination at multilateral international forums, the spokesman noted.

The foreign minister stressed Egypt’s keenness to bolster cooperation with Latin American states in the fields of economy, development and technology, along with getting acquainted with their vision on how to overcome the negative effects of the current global economic crisis.

The spokesman stated that the Latin American ambassadors expressed their appreciation of this fruitful meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister, speaking about their plans to foster future cooperation with Egypt.

The foreign minister and the ambassadors probed the possibility of increasing trade exchange and mutual investments, as well as exploring available cooperation opportunities in the areas of energy, culture, tourism and others.
