Continuing his series of periodic meetings with ambassadors accredited to Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Dr. Badr Abdelatty met on Monday, October 21, with the ambassadors of Asian countries to Cairo. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the significant importance the Egyptian government places on strengthening Egyptian-Asian relations and expressed a commitment to expanding cooperation with Asian countries across various fields.
In discussing economic and trade relations, the Foreign Minister highlighted the growth in economic ties with Asian nations, noting that trade exchange has surpassed 35 billion dollars. He stressed the need to intensify cooperation in the coming phase to further enhance economic, trade, and investment collaboration between Egypt and Asian countries, particularly in light of the opportunities available on the Asian continent and the major development projects undertaken by the Egyptian government.
Minister Abdelatty also underscored the government’s efforts to improve t
he investment, trade, and business environment in Egypt. He pointed out the promising investment opportunities across multiple sectors and expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in key areas such as agricultural security, digitization, artificial intelligence, and electric transportation. He urged Asian companies to increase their presence in the Egyptian market and take advantage of the incentives and facilities provided by the Egyptian government to attract foreign investment while addressing any obstacles faced by investors.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the Egyptian candidate for the position of UNESCO Director-General, who delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the key pillars of his electoral vision, along with various ideas and proposals aimed at enhancing UNESCO’s work in the fields of education, science, culture, communication, and information.
Additionally, Minister Abdelatty urged the ambassadors of Asian countries to expedite the relocation of their embassy headqu
arters to the new administrative capital. He emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure a smooth relocation of foreign embassies. Engineer Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, presented the advantages and potential of the Administrative Capital and expressed readiness to offer assistance to embassies during the relocation process.
