Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi on Sunday exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual concern.
The also probed ways to push bilateral cooperation forward in various domains, especially at the cultural and investment and commercial levels.
During their virtual meeting, the top diplomats also discussed bilateral cooperation mechanisms to serve the interests of Arab and African nations, which provide a fertile ground for opening up new prospects of cooperation, Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Hayashi asserted his country’s support to the active role of played by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) to establish peace and security all across the continent.
The two officials also discussed how to promote cooperation and coordination within the context of the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8) to be held in Tunisia later this year, the spokesman added.
They also probed cooperation on the ongoing preparations for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC, which will take place in Sharm El Sheikh in November, Hafez noted.
