Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited on Thursday Benghazi to follow up on ongoing works to prepare the building of the Egyptian consulate in the eastern Libyan city, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
During his visit, Shoukry met with eastern leaders, including Libya’s Deputy Prime Minister in the national unity government Hussein Attiya al-Gotrani and the mayor of Benghazi.
Shoukry held talks on means of boosting cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and peoples, Hafez said.
The top diplomat also met with commander Khalifa Haftar and asserted Egypt’s full support for efforts of achieving security and stability in Libya, Hafez added.
