Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Wednesday with Dutch Minister of Asylum and Emigration Marjolein Faber on the sidelines of the 2nd ministerial meeting of the Khartoum Process. Abdelatty asserted the Egyptian government is very interested in encouraging regular migration tracks for skilled workers, with an emphasis on the EU labor market including the Netherlands.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the foreign minister commended the unique and distinguished relations binding Egypt and the Netherlands in political, economic, and technical domains. He welcomed foreign trade missions visiting Egypt and confirmed utmost keenness on boosting investment opportunities.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s desire to promote cooperation in addressing various migration files, including ways of combating illegal migration and collaboration in regulating legal migration. He hailed the signing of a Declaration of Intent in this regard, which will be translated into joint projects by the two countries on the ground.
Egypt bears a substantial burden for hosting approximately 10 million guests, including migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers with a no-camp policy as per directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, taking into consideration the humanitarian, political, and security aspects on this score.
