Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday attended the signing ceremony of a three-way agreement involving the Foreign Ministry, Banque Misr and e-finance on an electronic collection system.
Board Chairman of Banque Misr Mohamed el Etreby and Chairman & Managing Director of e-finance Ibrahim Sarhan were present.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said the deal is part of the Egyptian government’s policy toward activating the electronic payment and collection systems.
The agreement is also coming in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and Egypt’s strategy for digital transformation, added Hafez.
The ministry cooperated with Benha University in developing and hosting its e-payments platform, he pointed out.
The spokesman said the ministry boosted coordination with Banque Misr and e-finance to use the new electronic payment system to pay for all the ministry’s services and fees.
Egypt had introduced prepaid payroll cards for all state employees and pensioners in 2010 and has since shifted away from a cash-based payroll system.
