Washington: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed during a meeting in Washington with US Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the full Arab consensus on rejecting the displacement of Palestinians.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tamim Khallaf, stated on Monday that the meeting explored ways to support the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US. He added that Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s strenuous efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East, highlighting the contribution of the Egyptian-US partnership and joint cooperation as key pillars in supporting these efforts.
The meeting included a comprehensive dialogue and exchange of views on the latest developments concerning the Palestinian issue. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s efforts in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza over its three stages and ensuring i
ts sustainability. They also discussed the prompt entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, along with the importance of advancing Gaza’s reconstruction process without the departure of Palestinians from their lands.
The foreign minister underscored the necessity of devising a political solution for the Palestinian issue, which would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people in exercising their right to self-determination, he added.
