FM asserts Egypt’s rejection of targeting civilians, denounces Israeli attempts to expand conflict

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty reiterated Saturday 28/9/2024 Egypt’s full rejection of targeting civilians and denounced Israeli attempts to expand the conflict.

This came in Abdelatty’s word during his participation in an urgent session of the UNSC on the situation in Palestine in New York.

In his word, Abdelatty asserted that the situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic in spite of all the international calls to Israel to stop bloodshed, genocide and targeting the civilians and the continuous mediation efforts exerted by Egypt, Qatar and the US.

Abdelatty condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, asserting that the UNSC should shoulder its responsibility and take the necessary measures to stop the war and achieve immediate, comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon so that the region does not slip into an open regional war.

Israel is directly responsible for the situation in Gaza and the region, he said, adding that it should abide by implementing all the
decisions of the UNSC and the International Court of Justice issued since the start of the crisis.

Egypt will save no effort to stop the war and guarantee sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza and support the Palestinian stands against any forced displacement attempts, he said.
