First Lady Entissar El Sisi greeted the Egyptian people for the Police Day, expressing her gratitude to the relatives of police martyrs.

‘On the occasion of celebrating the Police Day, I would like to greet the Egyptian people. This day is a reminder of the glory and heroism of its men,’ the First Lady said.

‘I also salute the mothers of the martyrs who have offered their most precious for the homeland’s safety and security. May Allah protect Egypt and its people,’ she added.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Wednesday a ceremony held to celebrate the 72nd Police Day, where he granted the names of martyred police officers medals of honor.

The 25th of January marks a historic clash between Egyptian police forces and the British Occupation forces in 1952, which was called the ‘Ismailia Battle.’

It took place when the Egyptian police officers refused to hand over their weapons and evacuate the Ismailia governorate’s building.

The incident left 50 individuals killed and 80 injured among Egyptian p
olice officers.

The incident was the spark of the revolution that ended the monarchy in Egypt on July 23 of the same year.

Meanwhile, the January revolution in 2011 marked the ousting of former President Hosni Mubarak after three decades in power and the holding of democratic multi-candidate elections in the following year.
