Finance minister: We are keen on benefitting from experience of int’l health experts


Minister of Finance and head of the Universal Health Insurance Authority Mohamed Maait on Tuesday 16/1/2024 expressed keenness on benefitting from the experience of international experts specialized in comprehensive health coverage to provide integrated health services for citizens.

In statements, Maait appreciated the support extended by Japan, the World Bank and the French Development Agency for Egypt’s comprehensive health coverage to boost development process in the country.

He said about 4.5 million citizens in various governorates joined the first phase of the new health system, pointing out that 20 million citizens receive medical services in Port Said, Ismailia and Luxor governorates at costs amounting to seven billion pounds through the Health Insurance Organization.

For his part, TOBE Makoto, Senior advisor in the health sector at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), hailed the health insurance system in Egypt and the continued development in the health domains.
