The High Steering Committee for Fils Al Reef, a fee added to each kilowatt a household uses, on Wednesday approved the lists of 234 beneficiary homes and sites from electricity services via regular grids, at a total cost of JD539,000 during the current October.
In a press statement following the committee’s meeting, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, said the beneficiaries include population centers and economic activities after the service expansion.
The minister, who is also the president of the committee, added that the expansion follows amendments to the foundations for delivering electricity at the expense of Fils Al Reef.
For his part, Director of the ministry’s Rural Electrification Directorate, Hisham Momani, said the decisions include residential areas, consisting of 5 houses located outside the municipal boundaries at a total project cost of JD141,000.
Meanwhile, he noted the other remote 3-house blocks are powered at a minimum cost of JD173,000 and distant individua
l houses benefit from existing grids at a total cost of JD75,000.
According to Momani, the list included homes owned by underprivileged households in municipal boundaries in the concession areas of electricity companies at a cost of JD18,000.
