Fifth Religious Silk Road Conference kicks off in Russia

The 5th ‘Religious Silk Road: Significance of Religious Values in Greater Eurasia International Scientific and Theological’ Conference kicked off yesterday in the Russian city of Kazan, jointly organised by the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and the the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

The conference was attended by Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation; Eremin Yevgeny Vladimirovich, Head of the Department for Interaction with Religious Organisations of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation for Domestic Policy; religious leaders of the BRICS member states, as well as more than 120 religious figures, scholars and muftis representing about 30 cultural institutions.

The two-day conference will discuss emerging issues in the Islamic world, the role of Islam in multi-confessional societies, the concept of moderation in Islam to combat extremism, the correct foundations of Isla
m for young Muslims, and the importance of methodological and applied research related to the ancient human heritage and religious culture.

The BRICS Youth Forum, held in conjunction with the Spiritual Silk Road Conference, is titled ‘Creativity, Responsibility, Leadership.’ The forum discusses strengthening citizenship, the role of youth in rejecting extremism, developing religious values ??among youth, and its principles based on mutual respect and coexistence.
