FAA hosts auditing workshop with US Government Accountability Office’s Centre for Audit Excellence

DUBAI: The Financial Audit Authority (FAA) hosted a five-day intensive training with the Centre for Audit Excellence of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), a prominent independent, non-partisan agency recognised for its commitment to accountability and effective governance.

In line with the FAA’s commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity in the use of government resources, the workshop serves as a significant step to enhance the technical skills and auditing capabilities of its team members using globally recognised auditing methodologies. Throughout the workshop, FAA team members engaged in a rigorous learning process, mastering diverse auditing tools and techniques that are essential for delivering effective and value-added services.

Abdulrahman Al Hareb, Director-General of the FAA, inaugurated the workshop, which witnessed the active participation of a host of department directors and team members eager to learn, develop their skills, and adopt international best pra
ctices in their work.

‘Our objective for this training is to build and enhance our team’s capacity to effectively plan and conduct performance audits in alignment with internationally accepted standards,’ Al Hareb said.

‘This workshop is aligned with our efforts to foster a culture of self-development among our team. By enhancing our skills in performance auditing, we are not only elevating our professional capabilities and fulfilling our mission but are also better equipped to serve and reflect the broader strategic vision of FAA and the Government of Dubai,’ he added.

Al Hareb also underscored the vital role played by the UAE Accountability Authority in facilitating this successful partnership, which has proven to be immensely fruitful.

Katherine Siggerud, Director of the Centre for Audit Excellence, commented on the importance of this training, noting the benefits of this international collaboration, ‘The Centre was honoured to share key leading practices for performance auditing. Our instructors were
impressed by the knowledge and commitment of the FAA and UAE Accountability Authority team members throughout the week. We especially appreciated both meetings with FAA’s Director-General and his support throughout the workshop.’
