Cairo: The extraordinary session of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) of the Arab League commenced under the auspices of the kingdom of Bahrain in Cairo at the level of Arab senior officials.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the participants will study a draft resolution on the economic and social file, which is topped by a number of initiatives on economic and social development. These initiatives have been forwarded by Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit with the aim of serving Arab citizens.
The draft resolution includes means to develop joint Arab action and addresses the progress achieved in the file of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA). Additionally, it covers the establishment of an Arab customs union, the executive plan for the Arab water strategy, and an initiative focused on artificial intelligence.
