Germany, France and Switzerland on Wednesday called on their citizens to leave Iran, fearing Israel’s threat of retaliation after Tehran’s missile attack on Israel on Tuesday.
According to AFP, the German Foreign Ministry asked its citizens in an update of its recommendations to “leave Iran” as well as not to travel to it.
For its part, the French Foreign Ministry said on the website of its embassy in Tehran that “it is recommended that French residents in Iran – who have the possibility – temporarily leave the country as soon as international air traffic resumes.”
“It is recalled that it is still advisable for French non-residents to completely refrain from coming to Iran. For those who are there anyway, it is advisable to limit their travel, avoid any gatherings and leave Iranian territory as soon as possible once airspace opens.”
Switzerland has also issued a recommendation for “Swiss people to leave the country by their own means, if it seems possible and safe to do so
