The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said that its field and legal team went to the school that was bombed on Saturday morning in the Zeitoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City, immediately after it was bombed, confirming that it did not observe any armed manifestations in the school.

In a statement, the Euro-Med Monitor added that a review of the nature of the victims showed that they were civilians, mostly women and children, refuting the Israeli army’s claim that it targeted the school under the pretext of turning it into a command and control complex for an armed organization.

The Monitor emphasized that the bombing by Israeli aircraft of another school housing displaced people and killing more than 20 Palestinians at once, the overwhelming majority of whom are children and women, is a new crime added to a series of war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

It pointed out that among the martyrs were 13 children and 6 women, one of whom was pregnant, and her 3-month-old fetus was killed, in addition
to the injury of 30 others, including 9 children who suffered amputations.

The Euro-Med Monitor renewed its call on all states to assume their international responsibilities to stop the crime of genocide and all serious crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, protect civilians there, ensure Israel’s compliance with the rules of international law and the decisions of the International Court of Justice, impose effective sanctions on it, and stop all forms of political, financial, and military support and cooperation provided to it, including the immediate cessation of the sale, export, and transfer of weapons, including export licenses and military assistance.
