LEIPZIG: The Portuguese national team edged out the Czech Republic with a 2-1 victory in their opening match of Group F at Euro 2024, which took place today, Tuesday, at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.
The Czech team initially took the lead with a goal by Lukas Provod in the 62nd minute. Portugal equalised seven minutes later with an own goal by Czech defender Ruben Hrnak.
Francisco Conceicao secured the win for Portugal with a dramatic goal in stoppage time (90th minute + 2).
The second round kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, featuring three matchups: Croatia vs. Albania, Germany vs. Hungary, and Scotland vs. Switzerland.
