EU calls on airlines to avoid Lebanese, Israeli airspace in October

BRUSSELS: The European Union has called on airlines to avoid the airspace of Lebanon and Israel over the next month amid the escalation between the two sides.

In a statement, the European Commission and the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) warned of an “overall intensification of air strikes and deterioration of the security situation” and recommended “not to operate within the airspace of Lebanon and Israel at all flight levels”, explaining that the Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB) is valid until October 31, 2024. However, it may be reviewed earlier and adapted or cancelled in accordance with the revised assessment.

EASA said that it will continue to closely monitor the situation to assess whether there is an increase or decrease in risks to EU aircraft operators as a result of the threat.
