Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad pressed the need for adopting strategies that provide radical solutions to face the problem of pollution in seas and oceans, underlining the importance of launching blue talks to involve more communities around the world in efforts to decrease the impact of human activities on the pollution of seas and oceans.

The minister’s remarks were made during her participation in a virtual session of dialogue held in Lisbon under the title of “The Road to UN Ocean Conference 2022”. The session is scheduled to address means of management, maintenance and protection of coastal environments.

UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova, Kenyan Ambassador in Cairo Joff Otieno as well as a galaxy of environment experts attended the session.

Addressing the session, Fouad reviewed the main events on biological diversity and nature that will be held on the sidelines of the UN Climate Conference (COP27) that will be hosted by Egypt in November.

She said COP27 will witness a conference that floats ideas and proposals pertaining to climate and environment and the best practices that could be adopted to protect the ecological system and maintain biodiversity along with means of protecting seas and oceans from the impact of human practices and activities.
