Environment Minister stresses key role of development partners in developing solid waste management mechanism

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad underlined that Egypt has taken major steps toward cooperation with development partners in solid waste management in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

This falls within the framework of the growing international interest in the climate change file, she said, referring to the painstaking efforts exerted by Egypt in this regard.

She noted that Egypt launched its 2050 national strategy for climate change which linked curbing greenhouse gas emissions to sound and safe management of waste.

The ministry’s national program for solid waste management held a series of meetings with the KfW Development Bank.

The meetings tackled the national program’s current and future action plans and following up infrastructure projects in the program’s targeted governorates.

The KFW delegation hailed the progress realized in the program and stressed continued support for developing waste recycling systems in these governorates.

Meanwhile, Fouad underlined the role of development partners and international financial agencies in supporting the development of solid waste management mechanism.
