Handmade products reflect the ancient Egyptian culture and its impact on all walks of life, said Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.
As part of its strategy to develop the management of nature reserves, the Environment Ministry was keen to involve the local residents in the process of preserving these protected areas and achieving their sustainability by spotlighting their heritage and environmental products, added the minister.
The minister’s remarks came during her participation Thursday 9/3/2023 with Local Development Minister Hisham Amna in inaugurating “Ayady Misr” (Egyptian Hands) pavilion to promote for handicrafts and heritage products.
This comes as part of the proceedings of the 56th edition of Cairo International Fair, to run till March 18.
The pavilion includes the distinguished handcrafts the 27 Egyptian governorates are famous for, including Khayameya (decorative Egyptian art appliqué textile), ceramics, wooden crafts, rubbing, pottery, wax, copper, macramé, seashells, carpets, pottery, glass and other products.
Ayady Misr is the First Online Marketplace for supporting the Egyptian women in particular and the Egyptian household in general as regards promoting their handicrafts.
The digital platform was launched in March 2021 under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Development and sponsored by World Food Program (WFP).
The digital platform helps the Egyptian sellers to reach out markets, improve both the domestic and logistics efficiency, and reduce the transaction costs as well.
