Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad announced setting up the green and blue zones that will host some activities of the UN COP27 Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh next month.
In statements on Friday, Fouad said the conference will address the topics that touch on humanitarian needs, such as energy, water and agriculture, with focusing on how to make the best use of scientific solutions and funding to counter climate change.
Concerning Egypt’s efforts in climate finance, the minister explained that Cairo coordinates with all parties that pledged to provide funding channelled to climate mitigation and adaptation projects.
The minister added that Egypt is keen on being at the forefront of countries in tackling climate change, citing the launch of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050 and the national plan for reducing emissions, as well as establishing a host of climate projects that depend on clean and renewable energy.
