EMRC:JD3.3mln in revenues from radiation, nuclear activities

Amman: Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC)’s revenues from the radiation and nuclear sector last year amounted to JD3.3 million, compared to JD2.1 million during the year 2022.

According to the EMRC’s annual report, 665 and 1,885 institutional and personal licenses were issued, respectively, while the commission also issued 54 registration certificates and 710 permits for import, transport, transit, and re-export of radiation devices and radioactive materials.

Additionally, the commission granted 26 radiation-free certificates, returned 3 shipments to the country of origin, implemented 337 inspection tours on Jordan’s industrial and medical institutions, and conducted 193 scrap inspections.

The EMRC announced a total of 73, 706 warnings were issued through Jordan’s border crossings, while 5,684 secondary radiation tests and samples were examined at border centers using portable devices.

Meanwhile, 84, 924 transactions were completed at border crossings, using ASYCUDA system, while 154 transac
tions for radioactive materials and medical devices were processed at the air cargo airport customs and the number of ships examined at the Aqaba border center reached 111.

A total of 762 samples were examined at the EMRC’s laboratories and 6 samples were tested at border crossings, the report showed.
