Minister of State for Emigration Soha Gendi discussed on Tuesday 25/10/2022 with Kazakh Ambassador in Cairo Khairat Lama Sharif and his accompanying delegation cooperation files.
During the meeting, Gendi said the Egyptian-Kazakh relations have deeply-rooted historical and religious bases, as Egypt hosts a number of Kazakh expats, as a large number of them study at Al-Azhar.
Meanwhile, Sharif expressed his admiration of the Egyptian experience in dealing with its expats, saying the Kazakh side looks forward to cooperating with the Emigration Ministry to exchange expertise in the expats file.
The ambassador invited the minister to take part in the 6th Egyptian-Kazakh Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, to be held in Astana on October 23 – 25.
He also lauded the role played by Al-Azhar as a beacon for Islam and the efforts exerted by Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb.
He pointed to a coming meeting with the Egyptian tourism and antiquities minister to discuss rehabilitating Islamic archaeological sites in Egypt, dating back to the Mamluk Sultanate.
