Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram on Sunday held a virtual meeting with representatives of the Egyptian community in different Ukrainian cities to follow up their conditions, amid the ongoing Ukrainian-Russian crisis.
During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the number of Egyptian nationals who managed to flee fighting areas in Ukraine and the situation of humanitarian cases in shelters, as well as the conditions of citizens heading to the border crossings with Romania, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.
On their part, the Egyptian community representatives said that an Egyptian national was injured as a result of an aerial bombardment in the city of Kharkiv, asserting that his health condition is stable.
Makram explained that the Egyptian Embassy in Bucharest is providing all facilitation for Egyptians crossing from Ukraine to Hungary, including booking hotels and return tickets to the homeland.
In a related context, the emigration minister appealed to Egyptians in Ukraine to abide by the instructions issued by the relevant authorities and seek shelters in the areas of clashes, as well as communicating with the Egyptian Embassy in Kiev and the community’s representatives if they want to head to safe border crossings.
She underlined that the State spares no effort to provide all forms of support to its citizens in Ukraine until they return home safely.
