Emigration, health ministries launch initiative to allow doctors to take part in Decent Life project

The Emigration Ministry in cooperation with the Health and Population Ministry launched on Sunday an initiative to enable Egyptian doctors living abroad to participate in the national project “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) for the development of the Egyptian villages.

Emigration Minister Nabila Makram said the initiative was launched in response to requests by Egyptian doctors abroad who wanted to contribute to this national project.

She said this mega project requires rallying all efforts to implement it appropriately, noting that the medical sector is an important corner in the mechanism of building the Egyptian character.

The initiative is activated by filling a data registration form by doctors wishing to take part in the project. The form will include personal data of doctors, their medical specialization, academic degree, country of residence and an approximate date to visit Egypt, she said.

Doctors have also to show in the form whether they are willing to take part in medical convoys organized as part of the initiative.

Higher Education Minister and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar welcomed the Egyptian doctors’ desire to take part in this mega national project.

He said the initiative was launched now to benefit from Christmas vacations abroad and the fact that many doctors return home to spend these days with their families.
